About
In the late 1950s, a new visual cinema movement arose. It was the art house of France that overshadowed other stylistic movements of the time. This movement was known as Nouvelle Vague. Jean-Luc Godard, one of the main driving forces behind the movement, is often quoted as saying A story should have a beginning, a middle, and an end... but not necessarily in that order
a statement that enveloped the sentiments of the movement quite well. It doesn't have to mean that storylines must always be nonlinear, but rather that not everything has to be in the correct place. This belief leaves artists with more freedom to pursue their concepts. Nouvelle Vague translates literally as "New Wave" corresponding to similar movements.
Future Vague does stuff. We'll talk about it later.
